The Parents As Teachers Supporting Care Providers through Visits program (SCPV) supports Family Child Care Home providers with research- and evidence-informed information to encourage developmentally appropriate practices. The providers pass this knowledge on to the parents of the children in their care through specifically designed activities.
Charleston County First Steps trained Parent Educators provide visits to these in-home child care centers twice per month either in-person, virtually, or through phone calls. During these visits, discussions with providers include child development topics such as early literacy, nutrition, safety, discipline, and health. The program also supplies providers with children’s books and other equipment and materials. If you have an in-home child care center and are interested in learning more about this program, contact us.
